This homeowner wanted to ensure her home was safe and had no problems before she would pass it on to her children. She wanted a company that does things right and has heard good things about Thrasher, so she gave us a call. System Design Specialist, Corey Little, came out to meet with her. Corey did a free inspection, and after came back to the homeowner with the findings. There were a few different areas of concern here, unsealed joints, washout, and street creep. Together the homeowner and Corey discussed solutions and decided on our Concrete Protection System with an expansion joint. The homeowner was eager to hear this concrete was not too far gone, and it could be fixed. We sent out our installation team and got to work! There is no doubt this homeowner has the peace of mind she was looking for.
Driveway Sinking
This driveway was under conditions of street creep, and wash out. Street creep is when the pressure from the street expanding causes the driveway to buckle and push against the foundation wall. Washout is when water gets under the slabs and washes away the dirt, leaving little to no support for the slabs to sit. The System Design Specialist, determined the best solution to this was Polylevel to lift and level, NexusPro to prevent more water intrusion, and an expansion joint to prevent any more street creep.
Unsealed Joint
This unsealed joint between slabs can cause water to get through and the concrete start to sink. This is because when water gets under, it causes dirt to wash out and away from supporting the concrete.
Cracking Concrete
This concrete sidewalk was starting to crack because of washout under the slabs. When water gets under, the slabs start to sink and cracking can start to happen.
Driveway Repair in Oakland, NE
Thanks to Polylevel, NexusPro, and an expansion joint, this driveway is looking back to normal! Polylevel was used to lift the sinking areas back into place, and NexusPro to fill in the cracks and joints to prevent washout. The expansion joint was used to absorb any pressure from the street, preventing street creep.
Expansion Joint Installed
This expansion joint helps with street creep. When the street connected to the driveway expands over time, to pushes the concrete of the driveway up to the foundation of the home. This can cause buckling in the concrete, and foundation issues eventually. The expansion joint with absorb the pressure of the expansion, instead of letting the concrete on the driveway shift and buckle.
PolyLevel and NexusPro installed
It is very important to seal the joints in between each slab of concrete. When they are unsealed, it can let water get between and under the slabs and eventually will washout the dirt under. This leaves the concrete with little to no support for the concrete to lay. Polylevel is used here to lift and level the concrete back into place, and Nexuspro to fill in those cracks and joints to prevent any more washout.
