This homeowner was selling their house, but couldn't pass an inspection because there was a large problem with floor rot. After calling us, we were able to determine that water seeping from the home's HVAC had, over many years, weakened and rotted the floors. Our System Design Specialist Anthony Salcedo and his team utilized 2 Smart Jacks and a supplemental support beam to reestablish the structure of the home. Check out the process of reestablishing the floor's structure!
Rotted Support Beam
In the crawlspace of this home, the support beams under the floor were rotted. The joints that connected these support beams were not supporting anything because the rot had weakened them, causing the floors above to sink.
Fallen Support Beam and Rotted Support Beam
The support beam that was holding the floor was completely rotted. The floor beam that was supporting this support beam had fallen because the rust on the initial support beam had eaten away at the support beam until they were no longer connected.
Smart Jacks and a Supplemental Beam
Our team used Smart Jacks to lift and support the non-rotted, existing floor support beam back to its original position. With the rotted support beam, our team replaced it with a supplemental support beam that is not weakened, to strengthen the support structure of the floor.
