Cracked Concrete Repair in NE, IA, MO, KS, IL and CO

Thrasher Foundation Repair Uses NexusPro to Fix Cracked, Unsightly Concrete

Cracked concrete occurs when concrete slab parts break and sink into soil that has washed away or compressed. Not only are these cracks unsightly, but they can also allow moisture to seep beneath the slab. This can result in complete soil washout or softening of the soil. In turn, the concrete slab will crack further as it sinks into the void.

Concrete cracks need to be sealed to keep moisture from seeping in the soil underneath. Control joints, which were cut between the slabs when the concrete was first poured, also need to be sealed. While you can DIY concrete sealing with a big-box store urethane caulk solution, this option will dry out, bubble, and crack over time. That means you will likely have to repeat this process much sooner than you expected.

Our NexusPro Solution

Luckily, it has never been easier to fix cracked concrete. Thrasher Foundation Repair and other concrete repair contractors in the Supportworks network have exclusive access to the best concrete crack repair solution on the market.

This solution is NexusPro, a silicone-based sealant for cracks and joints in concrete that is designed to offer long-lasting flexibility to stand up to poor weather conditions year round. NexusPro is UV-resistant, setting it apart from traditional polyurethane sealants. That means it won't bubble, crack, or dry out over the years. A single application will seal cracks and joints in your patio, pool deck, driveway, or sidewalk for a lifetime, shielding concrete against damage due to soil washout and compaction.

Efficient Installation & Cure Time

Our highly trained concrete repair specialists expertly install NexusPro for long-term protection against the elements. First, our team uses non-absorbent backer rod filler to drill, smooth, and prepare the cracks. After that, they insert the NexusPro sealant into the prepared crack or control joint. The final step is to detail the cracks with a thin layer of native sand so that the concrete has a cohesive, finished appearance. Even better, sealed concrete cracks mean weeds won't thrive.

Benefits of NexusPro

NexusPro comes with a wide variety of advantages that make it superior to traditional cracked concrete repairs, including:

  • Durable and long-lasting
  • Quick, year-round installation
  • Not susceptible to damage due to extreme temperatures
  • Won't crack, dry, or bubble due to UV rays
  • Short 60-minute cure time, compared to 24-72 hours for urethane-based products

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Cracked and uneven concrete that remains unrepaired will only get worse over time. In the short term, sunken or heaved concrete slabs present tripping hazards that you may be liable for as a homeowner. In the long term, without repair and proper sealing, the concrete will continue to crack and crumble, eventually requiring replacement. Properly maintaining your concrete by repairing and sealing cracks will extend the life of your concrete for years to come.

  • When it comes to foundation crack repair, there are several factors we consider before proposing a solution, such as the location and size of the foundation cracks. At Thrasher, we're experts in both foundation repair and concrete repair and maintenance. So, when we visit your home for the first time, you can expect a thorough inspection and a thorough explanation of the foundation crack repair solution we propose and why.

  • NexusPro is a silicone-based sealant for joints and cracks specially engineered to provide long-lasting flexibility and to stand up to harsh weather conditions. Unlike traditional polyurethane sealants, NexusPro resists UV rays, which means it won't crack, bubble or dry. Plus, the drying time is a fraction of that needed for other urethane-based caulking products.

  • If the cement is sinking or unlevel, we use PolyLevel(R) polyurethane foam to lift and level the concrete. Then, your cracked concrete and control joints are filled and sealed using NexusPro joint sealant. When we install NexusPro, we prepare and clean the concrete cracks, insert the product and then finish it off with native sand to give the whole surface a clean, finished look. Finally, the whole surface is protected from the elements with a coat of SealantPro(TM), which permanently bonds to your concrete.

  • Foundation wall cracks and the impending structural damage is caused by the soil surrounding your home. When the soil absorbs water during wet, rainy seasons, it expands. Conversely, the soil will shrink during dry seasons and droughts. This pattern of expansion and contraction puts enormous pressure on the foundation walls, and can cause the foundation to crack, heave and shift. Poured basement walls typically fail from the top corners inward, resulting in longer diagonal cracks that emanate from the corners of the foundation wall. Block foundation walls most often fail horizontally in the middle, bowing in as the mortar joints break. The evidence of a failing foundation block wall, then, will usually consist of horizontal foundation wall cracks midway up a basement wall. You may also see stairstep cracks as the joints fail around concrete blocks at different levels. If you do see foundation wall cracks of this type, don't panic -- most foundations can be stabilized and even lifted back to their original position using specialized equipment. This is often less expensive and far less disruptive than total foundation repair.

  • Concrete can crack over time, often early on in its lifespan as it cures and shrinks. So, if you find a short, often vertical, hairline crack in your foundation wall -- especially if it occurs near the seam where the forms were joined for the initial foundation pour -- it may be nothing to worry about. However, foundation wall cracks can also be a sign of structural damage caused by the expansion and contraction of the soil surrounding your home. The pressure from expanding soils can cause your foundation to crack, heave and shift. Foundation cracks that are caused by settlement are very serious and will only get worse over time as the home continues to move.

  • When we visit your home for the first time, we'll perform a thorough inspection and you'll receive a thorough explanation of the concrete repair solution we propose and why. If the concrete is sinking or unlevel, we use PolyLevel polyurethane foam to lift and level the concrete. Then, your cracked concrete and control joints are filled and sealed using NexusPro joint sealant. Finally, the whole surface is protected from the elements with a coat of SealantPro, which permanently bonds to your concrete.
